Another Foxconn Worker Fell to Death

Following the successive jumps of the employees of Foxconn Group, a Taiwanese manufacturer in Shenzhen China, another worker of Chimei Innolux Corporation, a subsidiary of Foxconn, fell to his death from the dormitory at about 6 o’clock yesterday morning.

Chimei Innolux, which became a subsidiary of Foxconn in March this year, locates in Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. The 18 years old employee, who is reportedly a student of Oriental Technology School in Shijiazhuang, came to Nanhai from Dongguan for work in June and had worked only for a few days for Chimei Innolux, according to the report of Xinhua News Agency. The cause of his death is still under investigation.

Before this jump, Foxconn on China’s mainland has had totaling twelve jumps since early this year, after which, the company had taken a series of measures to comfort its employees, including two large amount pay rises that adjusted the salaries of the production line workers to 2000 Yuan per month from 900 Yuan. President of the Group said this was to “respect the dignity of the workers”.

Foxconn, owned by Taiwan Hon Hai Precision Co., Ltd, makes iPhone and other products for Apple and also is a manufacturer for Dell, HP, Nokia and Sony. Foxconn in Shenzhen now has employees of about 450, 000 persons.
