I am coming to China for a business meeting for 2 months and i am planning to go to Hong kong every weekend for shopping.When i want to apply for China Mainland Visa at the Chinese embassy in my country it takes about 2 days but i think if i ask for a hong kong visa it may take up to one months i am not sure. Therefore if i get a 3 months China Mainland visa with Multiple entries, Is there any Hong Kong office in Shenzhen that is able to issue Hong Kong Visas for foreigners?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Under our present immigration law and policies, other than persons having the right of abode or right to land in the HKSAR, any person who wishes to come to the HKSAR for employment, investment, setting up of business, study, residence, visit (for persons who need a visa or entry permit for visit) or visit beyond the visa-free period should obtain an appropriate visa before arrival.

The applicant may apply for visa for social and business visit to the HKSAR.  Application for visit visa to the HKSAR can be submitted together with relevant supporting documents to the Immigration Department (Employment and Visit Visas Section, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong ) either directly by post or through a local sponsor.

To shorten processing time, application forms and supporting documents can be sent by fax to (852) 2824 1133 in the first instance. However, the original copy of the duly completed application form and the photographs required should be sent immediately to the HKSAR Immigration Department by air mail. A visa/entry permit will be issued only on receipt of an original, properly completed visa/entry permit application form.

Each application will be considered on its own merits.

Alternatively, application may also be submitted through the applicant’s nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular missions, where application forms are obtainable. For the address of Chinese diplomatic and consular missions (CDCM), please browse the following website:  http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/embassy.htm

You may apply for the appropriate visa or entry permit from the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing, where application forms are obtainable.

Applicants are required to produce their travel document to the Immigration Section of the Beijing Office so that a visa/entry permit could be issued if the application is approved. The address of the Beijing Office is:

  • ·         The Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing

No. 71, Di’anmen Xidajie, Xicheng District, Beijing 100009,
People’s Republic of China.

Contract telephone number: (8610)6657 2880 Ext 034

For holders of foreign passports who are living outside Beijing in other provinces/cities of Mainland China, they may continue to send completed application forms by posts directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department or through their sponsors/references in Hong Kong.

Normally, the supporting documents that should be enclosed with a visit visa application are:

(a)    a completed form ID1003A;

(b)    a photocopy of the applicant’s travel document, showing his/her personal particulars, nationality, residential status in the country of residence, re-entry visa to the country (if applicable), and date of issue and expiry of his/her passport;

(c)    one identical photograph of the applicant in addition to the one affixed to the application form;

(d)    evidence of the applicant’s past residence in Hong Kong (if any); and

(e)   supporting documents showing the business relationship with the local business contacts.

If a local sponsor is available:-

(a)    a sponsorship for ID1003B completed and signed by the local sponsor;

(b)    a copy of the sponsor’s Hong Kong identity card and/or travel document;

(c)    evidence of the sponsor’s financial standing and relationship/acquaintance with the applicant.

Further supporting documents may be required when necessary.

The entire processing time will take about 4 weeks. However, it varies from case to case and depends on the sufficiency of the supporting documents provided.  Nomination of a local sponsor will assist us in conducting enquiries and avoid unnecessary delay.

If the application is submitted directly to the HKSAR Immigration Department while the applicant is unable to name any local sponsor to pay the visa fee, he/she may consider to submit a cashier order or bank draft in Hong Kong currency in the amount of HK$160 made payable to ‘The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’ together with the entry permit application.  The cashier order or bank draft should be drawn from a bank which has a connected bank in Hong Kong.

If the application is successful, a visit visa label will be sent directly to the applicant or issued to his local sponsor who will be asked to arrange for it to be sent to the applicant. The visa is normally valid for a single entry within three months from the date of issue. If the applicant wishes to have double or multiple entries to Hong Kong, he may make a request in his visa application for our consideration.   The applicant must present the visa label together with his valid passport to the immigration officer upon arrival in Hong Kong.
