Love ambassador in Shenzhen arrested for obscenity

Due to the accuse of obscenity by a nine-year old girl, Shenzhen’s love ambassador, Zhang Haiwen, 56 years old, was arrested in September, who is the founder of the “Home of Love” in Bao’an district. The local people’s procuratorate made formal approval to arrest Zhang on October 11 and said no other victims were found.

Established on May 12, 2007, the “Home of Love” is a legal non-government helping organization registered with the civil affairs department, which provide temporary shelters for people leaving home or getting lost. Guidance and annual financial auditing are given by the sub-district office in Bao’an district for the “Home”.

On the morning of one day in September, a nine-year old girl was found on street and the police intended to send her to the “Home of Love” for temporary living, but it was resolutely opposed by the girl. After enquired, the girl said she was indecently assaulted by the Zhang Wenhai when she lived in the “Home of Love” ten days ago. Zhang was then arrested.

Zhang Hiawen, from Huabei province, came to Shenzhen in 1999. He established the non-government organization with his own strength to help those people in difficulty. He has provided help for more than one thousand people in trouble. In 2003, Zhang was appraised as the “love ambassador” and then obtained several honors.

Bao’an People’s Procuratorate announced on October 11 that it has formally arrested Zhang. No other victims were found till now.
