Huawei joins hands with Brazil DOC

Shenzhen, China- Paulo Bernardo, Minister of the Department of Communication of Brazil and Xiong Wei, President of Huawei in Brazil signed a cooperation agreement on July 11th, which agrees the two parties will conduct strategic cooperation in the field of LTE/EPC network technologies to support the development of education and to encourage the local manufacture of local telecommunication equipments.

According to the agreement, Huawei will assist Brazilian government to promote the LTE 450 Mhz to be international standard. The technology will help Brazilian government to realize wide coverage of broadband and increase of users with relatively low cost in a short time. Huawei will also cooperate with education organization in Brazil to focus on scientific research and development of communication network equipments.

Bernardo said Brazil had decided to choose Huawei as its strategic partner in the communication field as it’s a global leading provider of information and communication technologies and solutions.

Chinese ambassador in Brazil Li Jinzhang took part in the signing ceremony. He said he was very happy to see that Chinese high-tech private company had developed business in Brazil and made contribution to eliminate the local “digital gap”.

Huawei entered into the Brazilian market in 1999 and, through ten years’ efforts, has become the main provider of communication equipments and network solutions for Brazil. The employees of Huawei in Brazil have exceeded 4000, 91% of which are from local regions.
