Shenzhen’s medical device testing center to be completed in 2014
Shenzhen, China- “Great efforts should be given to build a medial device testing center with Shenzhen characteristic, focusing on medical industry innovation and development,” said Wu Yihuan, Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, when investigating Shenzhen Municipal Medical Device Testing Center project on July 6th. He emphasized that reference should be made to domestic and oversea high-end institutes and centers, so as to make Shenzhen’s future medical industry not to fall backward in ten years’ development.
Shenzhen has been always regarded as a large city of medical device and the devices it manufactured are sufficient to equip a modern 3A hospital. However, Shenzhen has to deliver its products to Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang or Guangzhou for testing, since Shenzhen has no special medical device testing organization, which seriously restricts the development of Shenzhen’s medical device industry.
The “new project for the city’s medical device testing center” is preliminarily located in the National Biological Industrial Base in Pingshan New District, with total construction area of 15700 square meters and total investment of 100 million. The laboratory building of the Center will have nine labs including disposable sterile device testing laboratory and electronic instrument laboratory which have been started. It’s expected that the building will be completed in 2014 and put into use in the end of 2015.
