Tramcar to realize seamless connection with Shenzhen Airport

Bao’an district in Shenzhen is expected to construct tramcars, which will realize seamless connection between the Terminal Building 3 of Shenzhen Airport and the Airport Eastern Station of Shenzhen Metro Line No.1, said Zhao Penglin, Vice Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal Government and Director of the city’s track office, in a investigation discussion meeting in Bao’an district where Shenzhen airport locates.

The tramcars in Bao’an district is preliminarily planned to be constructed in two phases. The first line is from Terminal Building 3 to Airport East, linking the Metro Line 1 and Terminal Building 3 and providing railway service for the passenger flow to the airport before the metro line 11 is completed. The second line is from Airport East to Shajing Center, strengthening the connection between Shajing and Fuyong and the airport.

Modern tramcar, an urban light rail train driven by electricity, is a means of transport with middle transportation capacity, novel design, friendly environment and energy saving feature. It adopts all low floors, which will make it easy for the disabled. The tramcars between the Airport East of Shenzhen Metro Line 1 and the Terminal Building 3 of Shenzhen airport, which will be built like “ferry bus”, will be operated as per the public transportation mode, greatly facilitating the travel of common people.

The Terminal Building 3 and relevant facilities are planned to be put into use in next spring when the floor area of the terminal building of Shenzhen airport will be enlarged by times, according to Shenzhen airport. Besides the wharfs that connect with the waterway of Hong Kong and Macao, there will three urban tracks (Metro Line 1, 11 and 10 in the future), two inter-city railways (the highway connecting Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the rail rapid transit connecting the west part of Shenzhen and Hong Kong) and three highways (Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Littoral Expressway and Shenzhong Channel) connecting with Shenzhen airport.
