Huawei Router said to have serious security problem

Shenzhen, China- As to the report that Huawei’s routers had serious security vulnerabilities, Huawei made response on last Tuesday that it was verifying the factuality of this report.

“We noticed that some media have reported security vulnerabilities exist in Huawei’s small size routers and we are now verifying if it is true,” Huawei said in its statement. Huawei also said it had adopted the “strictest security strategy and policies” to protect the network of its customers while it is insisting on taking the industrial standard and the best security measures.

The statement said Huawei has established dependable and stable responding mechanism to solve products’ security faults and vulnerabilities. Huawei also appeal to the whole industry to report their product security risks, so as to solve these problems.

Two security experts alleged on the DEFCON hacking conference held last weekend that serious security vulnerabilities were found in Huawei’s AR18 and AR29 series routers, through which the equipments may be controlled on the internet.

Felix Lindner, Head of Recuity Labs and one of the experts who found the security problems in Huawei’s routers, said the security of Huawei’s routers he has analyzed is “the worst in history” and he thought those equipment must exist more security vulnerabilities.

Huawei, one of the largest network equipment providers in the world, said on its official website that AR18 routers are specially designed for small enterprises, household and offices, while AR28 are for mobile network carriers.
