Shenzhen metro delayed by suicidal man
Shenzhen, China- A man climbed to the top of a local metro station and attempted to commit suicide at about four o’clock on the afternoon of July 29, causing the operation of metro stopped for about one hour.
The firemen on site put three rescue cushions on three lanes of Shenzhen Road, which resulted in large area jam on the road. The man, identified as Wu, initially refused to climb down from the station despite several round of persuasion. He threaded that he would jump down if the rescuer get closer to him. He was so excited that he finally chose to jump down from the metro station top and fortunately landed onto the cushions without any hurt. The man now has been arrested by the local police station and the reason for his attempt to commit suicide is under investigation.
Shenzhen Metro authorities said the incident delayed the operation of the metro trained for some time, but did not completely suspend the service. The metro operation was resumed at about 5 p.m.
