Shenzhen Proview sued for overdue legal fees
Shenzhen, China- Shenzhen Proview, a deeply in debt company, has won $60 million settlement from Apple for the trademark of iPad in the mainland of China. However, the company was later sued by lawyer group for allocation of the compensation obtained.
Xiao Caiyuan, Chairman of the lawyer group working with Proview for its disputes with Apple and senior partner of Guangdong Guanghe Law Firm confirmed through email that he and his lawyer group had brought a sue against Proview, asking the company to give priority to pay the legal fees of totally $4.8 million.
Earlier, another law firm working with Shenzhen Proview, Guohao Law Firm also sued against Proview and submitted application to the court to temporarily seal up the trademark of iPad in China, asking to get payment of $2.4 million legal fees.
It’s said Proview has total $400 million debts and the allocation of the $60 million compensation is still in suspension.
President of Shenzhen Proview Yang Rongshan explained, the $60 million settlement that is temporarily kept by the court shall be given priority to pay the debtors of Proview. Guohao Law Firm shall file an application to the court for the legal fees, instead of demanding directly from Proview. And the legal action is unnecessary.
